BC Breast Cancer Screening

The Screening Mammography Program provides free screening mammograms for eligible BC women age 40 and up. 

While no referral is required, we recommend women between the ages of 40-49 and 75+ discuss the benefits and limitations of screening mammography with their doctors. A referral is required for women under age 40 who are at high risk of developing breast cancer*.

How to book your mammogram:

• Call the Screening Programs Client Services Centre at 1-800-663-9203 or 604-877-6187 or send us an email and a booking clerk will telephone you.

Please have your BC Services Card/CareCard and the name of your primary care provider available when you're booking your appointment.

The BC Cancer Agency Screening Programs Client Services Centre is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. If you call us during business hours and can't get through, please leave a voicemail message and someone will call you back. In your message, leave your name, phone number and the best time to call you back so we can return your call. You can also send us an email and a booking clerk will contact you as per your directions.

What if I don’t speak English well?
The Screening Mammography Program of BC (SMP) has a Punjabi phone line at 604-877-6163 on which you can leave a voicemail message for someone to return your call (calls are only returned on Fridays between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM). In addition, Chinese-speaking booking clerks are often available at 1-800-663-9203. If one is unavailable to take your call, you will be asked if someone can translate on your behalf, or to call back when translation assistance is available. You can also ask a family member or friend to help you with the call.

What will you do with my information after I get screened?
Statistics are collected to monitor the program's performance and to improve our knowledge of breast disease in BC women. Personal information is collected under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
