Are you a senior who needs a helping hand?

The Better at Home program helps seniors live independently in their own homes by providing the following services:

  • transportation to appointments, shopping and events in the community
  • light yard care
  • minor home repairs
  • light housekeeping
  • wood stacking / snow shoveling
  • friendly visiting

All seniors over age 65, living in the Powell River and Texada Island may be eligible to receive Better at Home services. Eligibility for services is based on a senior's need for services, regardless of income and/or living situation. Seniors may pay a fee for services based on income - some services are free.

Better at Home supports are non-medical and are designed to complement existing support services in the community. Volunteers, contractors and paid staff provide the Better at Home services.

How it works: Call the Better at Home office (604) 485-4008 to set up an appointment for a home visit. Find out more about the services you are interested in and how you can apply for them. The Better at Home program can assist seniors to remain independent in their homes and continue to play an active part in the community.
