Powell River and Region Transition House Society

The society works to end violence toward women and children. Donations are tax deductible. The society’s programs are as follows:

Grace House Crisis Line: 604-485-9773

Grace Transition House: 604-485-4554; fax 604-485-4192. A nine-bed facility that provides free, temporary shelter, and nonjudgmental support for women and children fleeing an abusive or violent relationship. A social detox recovery bed is also available. Staffed 24 hours per day.

The House also provides referrals and resource information for women and children who are in danger either physical or emotionally. Also offers telephone support to women who are not ready to leave their home situation. Email: housegrace@telus.net

Stopping the Violence Counselling Program (STV): 604-485-6965. This program provides one hour individual sessions and/or group counselling. The “I Can” group is a weekly, on-going facilitated support group providing professional counselling, peer support, educational opportunities and access to a variety of resources for members. Stopping the Violence Outreach Program (STVO): 604-485-6980. This program provides follow-up contact, referral and support for women post-transition house and post-court hearing.

This program also provides outreach services to the Powell River region, develops and delivers public education initiatives, and develops collaborative relationships at an inter-agency and multi-sectorial level. Email: stvoutreach@telus.net

The PEACE Program for Children and Youth Experiencing Violence: 604-485-6968. This program is an intervention/prevention program created to address the needs of children who have been exposed to domestic violence. Available to children and youth ages 3 – 18. Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling and Empowerment
